Ive never heard of anything that is guaranteed to work, nothing 100% minus the knife. IUDs many women find helpful.

you'd be hard pressed to find an herbal way to "sterilize" yourself.

I would recommend this (see below), however, as it has worked well for me - though I wouldn't technically
know its efficacy since my husband has a vasectomy :)

Unfortunately, many women also have terrible problems with IUDs.

      My husband had a vasectomy.
It's a weird thing, but the procedure and recovery were very easy,
especially compared with a tubal ligation,
not to mention pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding and all of that.

Part of me wants humanity to figure out all of this stuff conclusively,
and part of me feels like it's so unnatural to tinker with a basic function of health that I don't want to think about it too much...

I feel lucky to be in a committed relationship with a man who was happy to take the V-plunge.
We've both been especially glad ever since he did it ;)

        hear hear!

Also, vasectomies are fully covered by basic medical insurance.

Note: it is recommended that the man make an appointment with a licensed Urologist
to do a procedure which is known as "no scalpel". My boyfriend went in and 30 minutes
later, walked out, I took him home and proceeded to put him in tighty whiteys with a
bag of peas on his scrotum 20 minutes per hour.

While he took precautions not to overdo anything (no hiking nor riding his bike) for
3 weeks, he experienced very little pain save for a dull ache the day following
        the procedure.

If people were truly interested in the well being of this planet, men would have
the procedure and simply cryo their sperm. For one, children are expensive,
way beyond the cost of a college education. Second, they are an additional
        burden on the earth.

But the fairly prevalent urge to procreate coupled with the egotistical justifcation
for having children will almost always prevail over any common sense / logical
        explanation for NOT having children.

wow, there's something wrong with your doctor. The IUD is quite common and the new ones that have been out for the past few years get rave reviews. they are NOT restricted to those who already have children.

Are you sure you're not confusing IUD with Essure? Essure is permanent, IUD can be removed by your doctor and there are two types.

Take a look at the Planned Parenthood website, it's filled with really good info on the options, side effects, etc having to do with IUD's, hormonal methods, etc, etc.

Yep, we all know you're a woman! :)

You wouldn't be asking about birth control if not for a male presence in your life.
If it's one committed man, vasectomy is a valid topic, right?
Men who are worthy of our time and love take responsibility for these issues along with us.

              Good luck with everything!
