Hi there!
A friend of mine is hoping to get pregnant. She has stopped taking birthcontrol. Here's the catch. Her doctor had told her there would be no averse side effects but now he's telling her it might take 2 years or more for her to get pregnant. And even then it is likely she will have to resort to fertility treatments which she really doesnt want to do. Does anyone know any herbal means of increasing fertility, or at least helping the body regain its natural rhythm>
Thanks

Mon, November 12, 2007 - 12:53 PMHerbs for the Childbearing Year by Susun S. Weed.
Red Clover infusion...clear intentions.
I would suggest she stop listening to her doctor with the "fear inspired language"
I would suggest she start using positive self talk i.e. I am healthy and fertile. I am open to becoming a mother etc. etc.

Re: Fertility
Mon, November 12, 2007 - 8:03 PMThis sounds like excellent advice. I had a doctor at one time, who advocated home-birth and herbs, tell me that most doctors had to charge so much for their visits and consultations that they felt "honor bound" to find SOMETHING wrong. The other side of that is that, if you are healthy, you don't need him. So HE tells you that you do need him. My 60 years of age and experience tells there is more REAL medical help here on this site than inany doctor's office.

Re: Fertility
Mon, November 12, 2007 - 8:21 PMTake plenty of green foods and vegetable juices to build blood and lymph, mot to mention dates, figs, honey, ghee, warmed milk (if she can digest lactose) the following herbs are great for fertility: Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Vidhari Kanda Powder ( Ipomoea digitata ), here's a recipe I just came across called "Love Goddess Elixir": Deer Antler, Schizandra, Longan, Lycium, Morinda, Polygala, Dioscorea, Dong Gui, White Peony. A TCM practitioner can prepare these herbs according to here constitution, in order to get the proportions right. -

Fri, November 16, 2007 - 3:36 PMWOW.....such strong plants and so many......I think it is best to use one plant at a time so you will know how it affect syou.....I guess I am
coming from a different tradition as I don't advocate vegetable juices for health.....the best way to eat vegetables is to simple cook and eat them.
But really what is needed is what you feel most like doing....peace, Julie

Sat, November 17, 2007 - 5:57 PMGood food, good sleep, good love, good sex.
Get all of that in place and then...
Acupuncture is fantastic for getting our cycles in a good place.
I was just reading in Nutrition and Physical Degeneration that adequate Vitamin E is essential for fertility and lactation.
Best wishes.

I'm also a fan of Susun Weed's philosophy about healing. We don't need Heroes to save us...

Sat, November 17, 2007 - 6:03 PMCrap. I hate it when I go back to add something, take too long thinking, and it double-posts.
Trying to remember Weed's phrasing about letting go of medical hero worship and the idea that we're all dirty, so much like Original Sin imagery. -

Re: Fertility
Sun, November 18, 2007 - 7:48 PMI get very good results from my herbal concoctions, I tend to do and try everything at once, western herbs, Chinese, Ayurveda, all at once, all the time. I know they all work, I know how to use them, what the effects are from my training, and it works well for me.
