Sorry for the non-flattering title... I don't have weight issues by any means, but I have some fat cells or more like cellulite that appear in my lower stomach just when I do certain movements. Normally I wouldn't really care, but I'm a belly dancer and I want to find a way to get rid of this so it doesn't impact my performances... does anyone have any natural suggestions?

If you find a herbal remedy let me know too! I think if bellydancing doesn't do it for you, then it's there to stay unless
you get a tummy tuck like I need. I hate my tummy so much, but it's all stretched (pregnancy) and fat is creeping in there and it sags. I sound so attractive!

      How is your circulation?

Maybe you could see an acupuncturist and see if they can direct blood flow and ki to the region to assist in energy being taken from there.

This does help and it will help with some hanging skin. However you want a well certified acupuncturist and espessially on trained in cosmetic acupuncture and if you want more information on this go to a friend of mine website or any other that talk about it, she is just a pioner in the field, www.acubeauty.com. Also for streatch marks skin rolling can help if you want more info on this you can go to websites on massage or you can write me and I will send you a discription on how to do this.

love it then leave it... or it leaves that is. Use a dry brush, massage every day before showering prefferably all your body then concentrate on the specific areas you would like reduced. Circular motions towards the heart. Dry brush massage stimulates lymphatic drainage and loosens up the mutated fat cells that are commonly seen as cellulite. As well, massaging with grapefruit and cypress oil (in a carrier oil of coarse) will help. GOOD LUCK!

Firstly, stomach fat and cellulite are two different subjects. Stomach fat is hard to get rid of because it's the first place your body stores fat (it's closest to the intestines), and because fat cells have an infinite capability to strech, they may get stretched so large that even if you lose weight, the fat cells themselves though empty, are still large, because of the increased amount of tissue in that area. If you aren't overweight and your ab muscles are in good tone, you can only get rid of it through liposuction or a tummy tuck.

Cellulite is not caused by mutant fat cells! It's caused by your skin attaching unevenly to your connective tissue. Anatomically, fat is considered a connective tissue. The dimples of cellulite are where your subcutaneous connective tissue is stuck and pulling on your skin. If you read the directions for any cellulite cream, you'll see that it tells you to massage it in for at least 15 minutes a day. The way these creams work is they usually have something in them that creates heat (like Ben Gay does). That, but mostly the action of massaging the area will make your connective tissue more liquid, and fibers will align themselves more regularly, waste products that are trapped will more easily get through the softer membrane, and oxygen and nutrients can get in. So it's actually the massage that gets rid of the cellulite! Dry brushing is excellent, but I don't know if you would receive as much benefit as you would from a massage that really warms and stirs up the area. And don't forget to drink TONS of water! That alone will help get rid of toxins and enable your connective tissue to become more liquid and less gel-like.

A mixture of lavender and rosemary essential oils in a carrier oil, preferably jojoba or grape seed oil because they are similar to the body's natural oils, would also help stimulate blood flow to the area before you dry brush.

Weleda birch cellulite oil, and use a dry brush on the area everyday to stimualte circulation.Cellulite is an indication that the lymph system is bogged down with too many wastes. A good cleanse for the lymph system is Gaia Herbs Supreme Cleanse.

what about sit-ups or related type of exercise...?

Sit-ups will tone your ab muscles, but if your fat cells are over-stretched, they will never shrink down all the way. Too much connective tissue is there, even if there's no adipose filling it up. Crunches are better anyway. Sit-ups really only work your hip flexors, not your abs.

This may not apply to you, but I used to be thin and relatively fit but with belly fat--and it was from imbalanced posture--flattened ribs, compressed diaphragm, shortened psoas, pelvis in anterior tilt. This made the connective tissue on my belly form in a certain shape because the movement traveling through my body never exercised/stretched certain muscles/tissues, hence the paunch.

After a great deal of core strengthening work (Pilates/yoga) and structural integration sessions, my body balanced out considerably and my belly became flat and toned--without much abdominally-focused exercise, just a lot of core consciousness.

However, I'm about to give birth in a few weeks for the first time so I may have a different opinion after I take a look at the aftermath of my belly in a few months.

I concur with Colleen. Try Yoga & Pilates first. It will help balance out the body & make the belly slim down.
