Has anyone here ever used Passiflora Incarnata? I know that it's a sedative, and have been wanting to try it, to relieve stress, but would like to know of any personal experiences first.

Thanks~~~~

i've used it by itself for sleep (as a tincture or in caps) and had good results. for stress, i might combine it with other herbs - lemon balm, avena (oatstraw, one of my faves), kava.....whatever tickles your fancy. and take a good b-complex twice daily.

Greetings. Passion Flower does impact the nervous system. It is more sedating than some other options so I would apply it to promote sleep and or ease pain, not for stress.

For stress I would drink oatstraw infusions, the long steeping type (recipe on my website moonwiseherbs.com/recipies.htm) I would drink several cups daily. I sometimes add motherwort tincture when I feel anxiety along with stress. Another stress reliever that I love are chamomile flower foot baths. Just make chamomile tea and soak your feet in it. Our bodies have direct access to the nervous system via the feet and this is a great way to take a break and relieve stress.

This is all herbally speaking of course, if you have chronic stress that is caused by something situational, oatstraw can definitely support the body and for myself I would look at the underlying cause of the stress and try to make some changes.

      blessings
      Linda
