I consider these two to be safe to take without a diagnosis. The other two Tian Wan Bu Xin Wan and An Shen Bu Xin Tang are a bit stronger and may cause loose stools or bloating if not prescribed properly.&#xD;

    <summary type="html">The supplement GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) has been helping me sleep much better for the past 8 months or so. &#xD;
Our baby wakes me up several times a night, and until I discovered GABA in the book The Mood Cure, by Julia Ross, I would often lie awake for hours after he was settled back down. It was maddening and exhausting. &#xD;
Much, much better now. I take one or two capsules about half an hour before bed.&#xD;
&#xD;
And ditto on the sex recommendation. And exercise in general, and no caffeine, and take your B vitamins early in the day.</summary>

    <summary type="html">I would say try to go to bed when you know you are sleepy. Sometimes you can tell when your body temp drops. If you like milk, warm it up and drink it. Also read a little, nothing too exciting. Sometimes I'm up until 2am, but I usually go right to sleep. I don't work, but I know I am a night owl.</summary>

However, while the herbs sometimes helped me sleep, sometimes they just made me feel weird without my body being able to relax. &#xD;
&#xD;
There could be other root causes, like muscular tension, stress, caffeine, eating late, ect. I would change your lifestyle around first, and rely on herbs second.</summary>

    <summary type="html">You could be a slow caffeine metabolizer like I am, which means caffeine could stay in your system for up to 72 hours, so that even if you only drink your coffee in the morning you will have troubel sleeping later that night or even the next day.&#xD;

Also, dont eat late even if your hungry. Drink tea.&#xD;
&#xD;
Its easy to get into a pattern of using stimulants because your tired, being awake but never being fully awake enough to work out and exhaust your body physically which is important for sleep. Excercise is a must.&#xD;
&#xD;
After you sort through your lifestuyle choices, then maybe you could try Gaia Herbs "Sound Sleep" product. Its good stuff, though it makes me feel a little high in the morning, and Im not totally with it for about 2-3 hours after I wake up....Ive slept 10 hours with it before at double the dossage.</summary>

I can't do this anymore as I am going to be doing a 2 months freelance gig that sounds like it may be demanding.&#xD;
&#xD;
So what herbs or natural remedies really work for deep strong sleep?&#xD;
&#xD;
Melatonin has worked for me in the past but I am not sure it should be taken repeatedly.&#xD;
