I bought a bottle of this the other day at whole foods. I might add it was pretty dam pricey
Just wondering if there was anything on anyone radarabout this. It's subposed to be a root veggie that has energy boosting properties. (which I need very badly). But I don't want to take something that's not gonna do anything.
Thanks,
Maybird

Re: Anybody have any knowledge of MACA
Tue, October 10, 2006 - 3:56 PMYep, root veggie staple of andes mountains. It is considered sexual tonic. It is very warming so if you have night sweats or tend towards hot I would not recommend it. I also recommend it in hot water or in a smoothie...kinda tastes like malted milk. It shouldn't be that expensive. We sell it here by the pound and not sure of the price but it is under $20 I'm sure.

Re: Anybody have any knowledge of MACA
Wed, October 11, 2006 - 10:32 AMi put it in my raw cacao/chocolate smoothies and in some hot drinks as well. i find that there is a very fine line between getting the flavor to enhance what i am making - and putting in too much and creating a bitter unpleasant taste. i really like what a little maca does for a smoothie - as someone said it is malt like - but if i go to far its bitter.
its a great product. read what david wolfe has to say at www.rawfood.com just search maca there.

Re: Anybody have any knowledge of MACA
Sat, October 14, 2006 - 8:29 PMit's totally safe. has similar effects to caffiene. you can order some tea called shipibo tea with maca on www.amazonherbs.com. the tea is awesome. i personallly do not like the feeling maca gives me, but it is an affective energizer. -

Re: Anybody have any knowledge of MACA
Wed, October 25, 2006 - 9:44 AMI am with Fiona on this one... I didn't like the way it made me feel either. Kinda overexcited and nervous. But it sounds like I was taking too much. I think I was taking a tablespoon or more at a time.
If you live in the bay area go to Rainbow Grocery to buy it because they sell it in bulk. That way you can buy a small amount and test it out before you go spending lots of cash on it. -

Re: Anybody have any knowledge of MACA
Wed, October 25, 2006 - 5:48 AMMy friend started taking maca powder in tea or smoothies to combat very painful and extreme PMS. Apparently the PMS, after gradually subsiding over 3-4 months, is completely gone.
